Automatically make Outlook 2010 default email client for Windows Hello, I am trying to find a way to make Outlook 2010 (32bit) the default email client for Windows 7 (x64) automatically.
Hey, i have tried the included email app that is integrated into windows 10 and today i tryed with another one called eM Mail Client. Allthough, the in the Default programs setting itțs changed to whatever email app i whant to use, i cannot rightclick a file>send to>email. A popup window appears that tells me that i have to select the email app in the Default Programs.
I allready did that. First, with the windows Mail app i thought it was a bug because of the somehow limited functionality of the app, but now, i see it doesn't work even with a more complex app. It's very annoing that i allwais have to open a different window and i have to search for the file i whant to attach to an email and then drag it to the compose message window:(. I can't believe nobody else is having this problem. I am having the same problem and I have reported it twice to Microsoft Chat Support and no one seems to acknowledge it is now a well known issue and I asked the Chat Agent, Christopher M. To forward the issue to the Microsoft Windows 10 Mail App development team but he did not say yes or no whether he would do so.
Here is a summary of my reported issue to Chat Support and Microsoft Feedback which is built into the Mail App: Fix Windows 10 default e-mail client Version 17.7369.40697.0. The Windows 10 Mail pre-installed program is unable to set as default 'mail to' program in Windows 10. For example, I want to use my short menu to select 'Send to. Mail recipient' and the following dialog box message appears: 'There is no e-mail program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an e-mail program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs, Control Panel.' I went to Control Panel and confirmed Windows 10 Mail has all of its default settings but still it will not behave as the default email client.
Then I went to Windows Support Chat and I was advised to perform an 'In-Place Upgrade'. I followed the steps and performed the upgrade which went smoothly with no issues, but still Windows 10 Mail will not function as the default email client when trying to send a file as an email attachment using the Windows 10 short menu and selecting select 'Send to. Mail recipient'.
Thx dave for the answer. Seems more and more like a non priority issue for the microsoft team. I'm willing to bet that the payed office suite works smoothly without any issues. Unfortunately i cannot say for sure because i don't whant to use the suite atm. Hello Andrei, I can confirm that the Outlook email client works perfect in Windows 10 when sending a file as an email attachment. Just like you, I do not want to use Office Suite (or Outlook Mail). I am using LibreOffice for my suite of office support programs.
The reason I know Outlook works perfect is that when I bought my new computer in July 2016, it came pre-installed with the Office Suite, including of course, Outlook Mail. When I tried to send a file using the 'Sent to. Mail recipient' protocol the Outlook Mail Client loaded the email perfectly and was ready to send the file attachment; however, it then popped up with a dialog box asking me to try Office 365 for Trial Period, or Buy it, or enter a Product Key.
Stromae racine carree free download zip. I dismissed the box and then the Outlook Client crashed and the email was not sent (no surprise there!). Anyway, Microsoft does seem to be sidestepping the issue.
I was told by the first Chat Support Agent that this issue is known and that performing an In-Place Upgrade would resolve the issue. She was wrong! I suspect that the Windows 10 Mail App is not coded to handle the file attachment protocol that you and I want to use.
I don't see anything in the Windows Registry that would show any errors. Everything points to the Mail App itself as simply being insufficiently developed to support the 'send to' (short menu) or 'mail to' (browser) protocols.
There is a solution to the problem, but it requires installing Mozilla Thunderbird email client which is a free fully functional email program. Then you can setup your email accounts and send your files as attachments without any problems. I am really upset that the Windows 10 Mail development team seems to be ignoring this issue for whatever reason they have, it is not right, and it makes me want to go back and use my Apple MacBook again which comes with a great fully functional Mail client. No issues like this with Apple apps. Let's hope Microsoft will push a fix in Windows Update. Best regards, Dave. This is a Windows 10 issue (I assume you use Windows 10?).
To fix, do the following: 1. Go to Windows Settings/System/Default Apps 2. Make sure eM Client is the default email app. At the bottom of that page, click on 'Set defaults by App' 4. In the left pane, click on eM Client 5. Select 'Choose defaults for this program' 6. Check 'Select All' This should solve your issue.
